[zu griechisch mĩgma »Mischung«], Singular Migmatịt der, -s, Mischgesteine, in ihrer chemischen Zusammensetzung und ihrem Gefüge zwischen metamorphen Gesteinen und Magmatiten stehende Gesteine mit einem unveränderten, hochmetamorphen Anteil (Paläosom) und einem durch teilweise Aufschmelzung (Ultrametamorphose) umgewandelten Anteil (Neosom); ist dieser mobile Anteil magmatischen Ursprungs, spricht man von Arteriten, stammt er aus dem Nebengestein, von Veniten. Das Neosom kann sich durch einen hohen Gehalt an hellen Mineralen wie Quarzit oder Feldspäten (Leukosom) oder durch vorwiegend dunkle Minerale (Melanosom) gegenüber dem Paläosom abheben. Dabei können ader-, lagen- oder schlierenförmige Gefüge entstehen. Mit wachsendem Grad von Aufschmelzung unterscheidet man Metatexis und Diatexis.
